KONA HOUSE - INTERIOR


We bought a full slab of native Hawai’ian monkeypod, 11 feet long. With the generous help of the good folks at Pacific Basin Mills and the Ainakoa Wood Co., it eventually evolved into furniture! Here’s a short chronology:

Yep, this is the one! Now we cut off the top section or “knuckle”, the area where branches would have grown out of the trunk. The trunk itself (on left) will be our dining table, and the knuckle will be my headboard


I go to work…under the watchful eye and guidance of master woodworker Mike Felig!

Many weeks and several dozen pounds of sawdust later……
